Hygromycin B Solution is a unique aminoglycoside antibiotic produced by Streptomyces hygroscopicus. It works against bacteria, fungi, and higher eukaryotic cells by inhibiting protein synthesis.
Hygromycin B Solution is used for the selection and maintenance of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells that contain the hygromycin B resistance gene. Resistance to hygromycin B is conferred by the E. coli hygromycin B resistance gene (hyg or hph).
Hygromycin B has a different mode of action than G-418 or Blasticidin S selection reagents, making it an excellent choice for dual-selection experiments.
