Our team of experts has developed a SERVICE that redefines laboratory routines, providing you with a convenient and time-saving solution: Capricorn's FBS Minis.
Our FBS Minis embody the concept of relieving you from the laborious and time-consuming tasks in the lab, granting you the time to concentrate on what is essential: your research. We carry out the aliquoting process for your chosen FBS lot, filling it directly it into a practical 50 ml volume that easily blends into your medium.
This procedure not only economizes your time, effort, and resources but also eliminates the possibility of contamination through our controlled clean room conditions.
Upon request, we offer our full range of serum options as FBS Minis filling option.
Serum is the blood component that can be obtained after coagulation and by removing cellular components. Besides serum proteins it contains, e.g., growth factors, amino acids, and hormones. This comprehensive mix makes serum one of the most important supplements, supporting cultured cells to grow and proliferate in vitro. For cell culture, fetal bovine serum (FBS) is of special interest. It is especially rich in growth factors and particularly low in antibodies that may influence the cell culture work.
Fetal Bovine Serum Advanced (FBS Advanced) has reduced batch-to-batch variations compared to standard FBS.
Raw fetal bovine serum is a natural byproduct of the meat and dairy industry. It is obtained from bovine blood showing significant batch variations due to various environmental influences, e.g., nutrition or health state of animals. Batch-to-batch variations of fetal bovine serum can have major impacts on the reproducibility of scientific results. Capricorn Scientific’s sophisticated treatment process during pooling and filtering significantly reduces batch-to-batch variation in FBS Advanced. Furthermore, the serum content is reduced by addition of high quality albumin to achieve a stable performance. Usually, once successfully tested on a cell line, no further batch testing is necessary.
