Calf Serum (or Bovine Calf Serum, BCS) promotes growth of a variety of mammalian cell lines and is obtained from animals that are between 14 days and 12 months old. It contains more immunoglobulins than fetal bovine serum (FBS) and has an increased protein content.
Bovine Calf Serum (BCS) is a cost-effective alternative to fetal bovine serum. Upon request, this serum product can be offered with treatments such as heat-inactivation or gamma-irradiation.
